New Year's Resolution A New Job?
The old year ends and a new year starts. You say you want a new job this year. Tired of running endless dissolution test, content uniformity, raw materials metal tests, and Anderson impactors? Tired of waiting for PAT to come to your rescue?
Well, if you can't stand the job you have, then look at this list of the worst jobs in the science field, from fart-sniffing to isolation chamber tester. You may change your mind. This is probably the best article by Popular Science this year. I laughed out loud!
Merck Index anyone?
Your fellow Mass Spectroscopist walks into your office and ask you which aromatic compound has a particular empirical formula. What do you do? "Saddam's daughter defended him, saying the U.S. must have drugged or gassed him. Otherwise, he never would have surrendered. Let me tell you something, the guy was living on hot dogs, Spam and Mars bars, and living in a tiny hole. I think he gassed himself." —Jay Leno

AT THE GRANDPARENTS
Two young boys were spending the night at their grandparents. At bedtime, the two boys knelt beside their beds to say their prayers when the youngest one began praying at the top of his lungs. "I PRAY FOR A NEW BICYCLE... I PRAY FOR A NEW GAMEBOY... I PRAY FOR A NEW DVD..."
His older brother leaned over and nudged the younger brother and said, "Why are you shouting your prayers? God isn't deaf." To which the little brother replied, "No, but Grandma is!"

Merck plant might come to Durham, NJ
"Merck & Co. is considering building a $300 million vaccine manufacturing plant in Durham, but the New Jersey pharmaceutical company first wants a generous package of incentives from state and local officials. Merck, the second-largest U.S. drug maker, has its eye on 256 acres in Durham's Treyburn Corporate Park. It appears as if the FDA is getting very serious about drugs getting imported into the US illegally. IF you are shipping in your prescription from Canada, then don't be surprised if your credit card company tells on you. "The FDA has contacted several major credit-card companies and a trade association representing package carriers, seeking to set up meetings. Agency officials plan to call individual package carriers by the end of the year...more"
